Review of: Tokyo Japanese Hibachi & Sushi Buffet of Freehold Twp., NJ

Of all the buffets I have been to, this one has some great food, decent to today’s “fast & everyday Chinese/Japanese cuisines". I had a few good things to say about it, but I had a few things that I witnessed it as a “Beta flaw”. I ate the buffet portion of the restaurant. I will be sure to try out the Hibachi portion of the restaurant next time. It’s either-or, so you can’t have both meals… unless you have the stomach and money for it. Here’s my review:

Positives
:
Shrimp Tempura, some other vegetable tempura, 3 Sushi Tempura, Shrimp &... something else, Shrimp Katsu, Spring Rolls, Hargow (Shrimp Dumpling), 2 Xiaolongbao (小籠包)The food was decent, but the striking point of this Japanese Sushi buffet was the fact that there are made-to-order Hand Rolls and great Sushi choices (even if some were the same as the others.) The one other thing that I was very excited to eat was the Shanghai Style Pork Buns (Xialongbao, "小籠包".) Believe me, that’s my all-time favorite!

Negatives:
I can’t write this in a messy paragraph, so I’m going to bullet it:Steak, Salmon & Tuna Sashimi, Tuna Hand Roll, more Xiaolongbao, Peking Duck, and 3 vegetable tempura

  • Cleanup of tables is slow (Took about 10+ minutes for one table to get clean due to ignorance by waiters/waitresses)
  • Small location, can expand, should expand, can’t expand, they won’t expand.
  • Pricey: $19.99 per adult for dinner!? Dang!
  • Cannot handle nights with many people, the staff can use training for “full house nights.”
  • Needs a paging system rather than “calling out the name”.
  • Needs a bit “more” food choices.
  • Insufficient dessert bar. Just Ice cream doesn’t cover it.
  • Siu Mei (or Shumai) meat looked uncooked for a second… close call.

Negatives (For that particular night):
It was only tonight that my father’s bill was way past incorrect. In fact, the waiter gave the wrong Guest Check and my father always uses his credit card without seeing the bill. Thus it got charged… but he didn’t sign it and got the right receipt. They need to use their eyes and LOOK at the receipt before letting someone who just whips out their credit card pay immediately.

Overall Score (From 1~100): 76%
(Forgot what sushi I had. Sorry), Salmon Hand RollRemarks: Out of that, I just didn’t like the service that much. Otherwise, it’s fine. I’d like to see more “evolving” with that restaurant. It might get a lot better and become my frequent dining spot!

10 things I bet you don’t know about me.

  1. My Chinese name is 徐嘉豪 (Xu Jiahao would be the Mandarin pronunciation, Tsui Ka ho would be the Cantonese (primary dialect) pronunciation.)
  2. In my entire life so far, I’ve owned 5 computers, currently setting 2 as being primarily used.
  3. I have permanent residence in Hong Kong.
  4. I have not two, not three, not four, but 8 e-mail addresses that I use.
  5. I have a dog:
    Hush!
    Name: Hush
    Breed: Basset Hound
Age: 5? (His birthday is in November, forgot the date… :o)
  6. When nobody is looking or listening, I revert to speaking in Cantonese, my family’s native language/dialect of Chinese. (Tip: As soon as someone sees me or looks at me while I’m saying it, I can quickly change my “language setting” back to English. On this note, I rarely speak Cantonese to just ANYONE in the U.S.)
  7. I let my hair do its own designing, whatever I look like after I take my shower is how I look like until the next shower I take.
  8. In the other side to being someone working with computers, I want to be like Chris Pirillo :O (Pretty surprising, but actually, it’s an interesting thought!)
  9. I always think that if I don’t make it to being someone who works with computers every day, fixing them, or whatever of the relation, my fallback is attempting to be a YouTube celebrity or of some closeness.
  10. I’d like to make at least one viral video having to do with myself… or something. (Just one is enough for me!)
